Blankside: A Handwritten Font for Creative Campaigns

It was the morning of a product launch, and I was finalizing the visual assets for a seasonal sale. The design needed to feel fresh, personal, and inviting—something that would catch the eye in a fast-scrolling feed. I opened my design tool, scrolled through my font library, and landed on Blankside. It wasn’t just another script font; it had a unique energy that felt right for the campaign.

What Makes Blankside Stand Out?

Blankside is an asymmetrical handwritten font with a soft, organic flow. Its uneven strokes and playful curves give it a warm, approachable personality. Unlike more rigid script fonts, Blankside feels like it was written by hand, adding a touch of authenticity to any design. It’s ideal for projects that need a human touch—whether it’s a wedding invitation or a social media post.

The font has a casual yet refined aesthetic. It works well for headlines, logos, and decorative titles but isn’t suited for long blocks of text. Its charm lies in its imperfections, which make it perfect for creative campaigns that aim to stand out without being overwhelming.

Blankside in Action: A Real Campaign Example

For the seasonal sale, I used Blankside as the headline font for a series of Instagram posts. The campaign focused on limited-time offers, and the font helped convey urgency and excitement. On a mobile screen, the font remained legible, even at smaller sizes. Its subtle variations in stroke weight made it visually engaging without distracting from the message.

I also tested it on YouTube thumbnails. The font added a sense of personality that matched the brand’s tone. It worked best when paired with bold colors and simple backgrounds, ensuring it didn’t get lost in the visual noise.

When designing a webinar banner, I used Blankside for the event title. The font’s uniqueness helped it pop against a clean background, making the banner more memorable. It was clear, readable, and consistent with the overall campaign style.

Best Use Cases for Blankside

Blankside excels in short, impactful text. It’s great for callouts, logo-style text, and campaign labels. In email banners, it added a friendly tone that resonated with the audience. For Pinterest pins, it provided a personal touch that made the content feel more relatable.

It also worked well for quote graphics. When paired with a simple sans serif font for the body text, the contrast created a balanced composition. The font’s natural flow complemented the message without overpowering it.

For digital ads, Blankside helped create a sense of warmth and creativity. It was especially effective in ad layouts that aimed to build an emotional connection with the viewer. However, it wasn’t the best choice for dense information or formal corporate communication.

Readability and Practical Tips

When using Blankside on mobile screens, keep the text size large enough to ensure clarity. It performs well on dark backgrounds but may require adjustments for light backgrounds to maintain contrast. In image overlays, it’s best to use it sparingly—too much can clutter the design.

On small previews, such as social media thumbnails, the font still held up well. Its distinct shapes made it recognizable even at a glance. For fast-scrolling feeds, using it as a headline or title ensured it stood out without disrupting the user experience.

If you’re using Blankside in a multi-platform campaign, consider how it will look across different devices and formats. Testing it in various contexts will help you understand its strengths and limitations.

Pairing Blankside with Other Fonts

Blankside pairs beautifully with clean sans serif fonts like Montserrat or Open Sans. This combination creates a modern, professional look while maintaining a personal touch. It also works well with serif fonts such as Playfair Display or Lora, offering a classic yet contemporary feel.

When pairing with other script fonts, use them carefully. Blankside’s asymmetry can clash with more structured scripts, so it’s best to use it as a dominant font rather than a supporting one. For a bolder look, combine it with a modern typography system that complements its character.

Always check the font’s file formats, multilingual support, and commercial licensing before integrating it into client campaigns or branded content. These details can impact the usability and scalability of your designs.
